Andika Leonardo was the only Indonesian student who received a scholarship from Apple to attend Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018. There were only 350 students from all over the world who received this golden opportunity.
Andika, who is also an IT student at Bina Nusantara University, was sent to Apple’s HQ at Cupertino, California, the United States to learn with the many privileged participants of the conference.
Andika’s achievement that earned him the scholarship was impressive. He had to build the entire computing system that learns and works by itself.
“I built a learning machine, a program understands what the user wants without the need to be programmed by the user. Put simply, it can think and learn by itself.” said Andika at the Apple Developer Academy in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), South Tangerang, on Monday May 7th.
Andika felt thrilled to receive the highly valued scholarship. Aside from the workshops and many activities, he had the chance to explore the city in California. Not to mention, meeting the Apple CEO, Tim Cook, was an incredible experience. “This is an annual competition, I enjoyed all the facilities and activities of the events at no charge due to the generous scholarship from Apple,” he said.
With what he received and experienced, Andika hopes that he can help improve Indonesia’s technology field, especially in computer software.
He is determined to implement the learning he acquired during the conference in Cupertino in the future. “I was very happy to meet the CEO, Tim Cook, and I also carried Indonesia’s name.”
Best of luck, Andika.
